Why is my Hotmail account banned?

A question I am being asked often these days:

Because the administrator of PerfectUnion BBS was being bombarded by bounce messages from Hotmail. Hotmail account users were not being notified of subscribed threads, or Personal Messages left on this site.

I don't know if they were blocking us on purpose or if it was transient behavior, but it doesn't matter.

Hotmail is banned for use as a registration email address. If you want to use a free email account, I highly suggest Gmail.

We do not block any other domains other than hotmail.com at this time.
