Okay.....this topic section is for optics and scopes, not iron sights...but here goes...
Peep sights are/were used on US military rifles and other target/hunting rifles.. They offer the shooter a ring aperture rear sight and a blade or post front sight. The rear sight has a "flip flop" feature...larger ring for close and intermediate range, smaller ring for long range.
The primary function of this system is quick acquisition of man sized targets. Instead of trying to align the front blade to a rear blade vertical slit, the shooter can simply get the target in the rear ring, center the front blade in the ring, and without obscuring the target..... squeeze.
You will still have issues with peep sights if your eyes are bad. Irons are for the young bucks with 20/20. You need to consider an optic if you're old and blind like me
