I've decided to order a new Millet 4 X 14 X 50 Tac scope.
I really like the retical and for the price, it looks like an excellent scope for a .308 Tac rifle.
Anyone used one yet ?
The Millet and the Mueller scopes seem to be the two big sleepers as to quality VS. price.
Great quality, sharp and bright optics and a decent group of reticals to choose from.
I have a Mueller APV on my Savage .22 rifle and it's fantastic for the price, their 6 X 35 power scope has a super fine wire retical for target shooting. Increadable for the price and a lifetime warrenty.
I have 2 of the 4-16X50 Tac scopes, 1 on a 24" AR15, one on an LAR-8, they have been hard to beat for the money, but honestly, I would like a little better quality glass. I've heard of some issue's over on the Snipers Hide forum, but I've had no problems at 2 years in. I will say that while they are supposed to be the same scope, 1 is more finicky about eye-relief than the other. I have no idea why
Unfortunately the glass and reticle I would like was 4 times the price
BARSKA 6-24x60 IR Tactical and Seperate Spotter $320
I am looking for scopes for a 308 as well. This one seems like a good one, but I don't know anything about Barska and their current scopes, however $320.00 for this scope and a separate spotter scope sure seems like a heck of a deal:
Looks like a great deal, I dont know anything about them rep-wise, maybe others will chime in with some input
Those mounts look mighty tall for an AR (!) Seems like a 60mm objective lens would defeat being able to see through them at all (not sure)
Blackeyes, I agree with you on the mounts. Though I don't own an AR, but I doubt on a 60mm they will let peep under on anything. This is for my VEPR 308 'Hunting Rifle' BTW. I would like to make it effective out to 700-800 yards. (I also want to play with the mythical 1,000 yard .308 shot) I know, I know say no more LOL. I don't know how good of a Twilight Scope it will be though even down at 6x.
For that much you could still get some solid lower mounts that would lean towards a better (and quicker) cheek-weld
One of my AR's is a Rock River with a 24" EOP upper, and at times it takes a little more to get settled into a shot with the scope up high like that, moreso if your shooting from a prone position. Bagged up on a bench, its not that big a deal
I have several and they are very different from one to the next, if I shot that one all the time it would be less of an issue, I'm sure
Still a killer deal, mounts are not that much from the right place. I dont have a ton of lowlight experience, but that is where the expensive glass really shines compared to lower priced stuff
