I've been following online reviews on the Vortex Strikefire, and it sounds like it is a solid, yet affordable red dot. I have done a search here on PU, and found a number of threads with members discussing them, but nothing really recent.
I was hoping that those of you who have one would be able to post on your experiences with them, and whether you think they're a good value.
For those of you of the "just save your money and get an Aimpoint" bent, I am considering doing just that, but if the Strikefire is a viable, cost effective alternative, I'd rather buy more ammo!
Also interested in hearing any comments folks have on the S.P.O.T. and ADCO Mirage...similar specs and similar price point.
I have one, I has been on several guns and I loan it out sometimes. It is in an Aimpoint rail grabber mount, I thought the one that came with the sight looked cheap. The Strikefire holds Zero but the Aimpoint is better. It take a little longer to turn on and adjust the brightness on the Strikefire.
If the gun is a working tool I would get an Aimpoint, if its a range toy, well the Strikefire is working well after a about a year of use.
I have one, my only gripe is the field of view is a tad narrow compared to others like the Aimpoint. Its been solid though, I've had no problems at all with it. Good value for the coin. I actually prefer an Eotech, but its much more
Just my 2 cents
I have had one for about two years has held up great I use it on mini-14 keeps zero good. I throw it around a lot too, I am pretty rough on it and still performs.
Had mine for about 4 months.Have it on a Steyr AUG.Holds zero and works great. It does have a narrow field if you only use one eye,but not noticeable using both eyes as designed.
I also have one, works as intended. Have noticed that the screw on 2X magnifier seems to shift POI from POA, so I don't use it. It's alot of value for the money. I replaced the Aimpoint Comp M2 with the Vortex on my 9mm Marlin Bullpup project and it is a great CQB platform, Bright enough for full sun as well as low light apps. The red-green 4 MOA dot provides good contrast on any background.
It arrived this past Monday. I'm still waiting on delivery of the rifle, so I have no reviews, but did read everything I could find on it.
Seems nice, and solid. I don't like the on/off switch because it seems it will be easy to accidentally turn it on. The flip up covers are seriously tight, and a bit hard to close, but I'm guessing they will loosen up over time.
I plan on buying one as well. Probably the first week of July. Thanks for the input, folks!
I got a Leatherwood M-30 red dot and put it on my 7.62x39 AR .. and the dang thing died after four shots! Was supposed to be a tough red dot, too! HUGE dissapointment there! However, it gave me the excuse to drop bread on the Strikefire!!
Glad to here everyone likes the srtikefire red dot.
I am getting a AR and was looking at the Vortex. I have a cheap crossfire on a 6mm-BR it has been a very good scope.
I've had a chance to run a few hundred rounds using the Vortex scope. It holds zero good, but I really hate the on/off button. I've laid my rifle down several times, only to pick it up, and find the scope had turned on.
I got one as well. Works great but did dot quit working. Call customer service and talked with them and sent in old one to check and they sent me a new one. I like it and from my experience they will fix or replace. Lifetime warranty is legit.
