I tried to mount a Simmons 3x9 scope on my Marlin 17VS. The groove in the reeciver does'nt allow for the scope to go back very far. The eye relief is not much. What scope have you used?
Have you loosened the rings around the scope and slid the scope back so that the back ring is almost touching the adjustment knobes? Also, have a friend you mounted the scope on his 22 with both rings in front of the adjustment knobe. That will get your scope back far enough for sure.
They are as far back as possible. I don't know if putting both rings ahead of the adjustment will be stable enough.
