I'm looking for a scope for my Remington 710. It's chambered for 7mm Remington Magnum, so I need something that can tolerate a magnum caliber's recoil. I know that Bushnell's have a bad reputation for not tolerating heavy recoil well. What brands should I look into?
all i own are Leupolds but Burris, Nikon, & Bushnell make decent scopes for a good price. but it is hard to beat the Leupold for optics, weight, eye relief, & warranty if you should ever need it. plus i think they look better than most others. i don't know what you can spend but the vx-IIIs are on sale now for the best prices ever. you would never regret getting one of those.
Actually, the recoil from a 7 mag isn't much to be concerned about, that's one of its virtues. Most any decent brand will tolerate it quite well, unless it is defective to start with.
this was back in Dec. prc. Midway & most of the better retailers had the vx-III on sale because of Leupold bringing out the new vx3. there may be some stock still around that hasn't sold yet, all you could do is check with the retailers.
Burris is my favorite, but Leo, Bushnell, and Nikon all look real good. Don't like the Leo Rifleman tho, no clicks on the turrets so adjusting it drove me crazy. The dials felt like they have expensive bearings in them and worked fine, just no clicks

Guess it's just personal taste, cliks vs no cliks. I have a 20 year old Leupold 3-9x40 A.O. with continusly variable adjustments on a Browning/Sako 22-250, love it. Have to admit tho, it takes some pretty small groups before any advantage showe up at all, under a half inch anyway.
I really, really like my Nikon team Primos on my 300 Weatherby magnum. Very sharp, very bright. Golden Monarch optics at a bargain price and obviously it'll hold up to anything a 7mm mag will do as the 300 Weatherby is a notorious kicker. http://www.swfa.com/c-2119-nikon-team-primos-riflescopes.aspx
Wow your more of a man than I am.I <had> a Win 7mag black sen ss longgg barrel.Notice had. That thing kicked the shi*t out of me.As for the 3 1/2 in the light 12.I shoot a Mos 835 ultra mag turky special, and 3 1/2 knocked me off the table.I'm not the biggest guy only 220lbs.NNNNNNEEEEEEVVVVVEEEEERRRRRRR agin
what bushnells are you talking about? the low end stuff yea its cheap and wont stand up to alot of recoil but if you go with the trophy and 3200 series or better they hold up.
Well I duno I own 2 30-06s Rem 700 sen,Rem 7600 wood montacarlo.Neather one of them are anything.Maybe that 7mm of mine was just weird.Even the guy as bass pro that shoots guns all day said shi* man get a 300 mag.
