I just sporterized a mosin nagant 91/30. It turned out bad a....! I am gonna use it to elk hunt with and was thinking i did not want to break the bank on a scope. This will not be a scout scope type rifle. I am having a brake put on this but it should still have allot of recoil. There are allot cheap scope on websites out there, i figure one of them might be a winner for this application. There is allot of them in the sportsmans guide. Buy the way I used sandstone textured paint on a custom boyds wood stock and i used industial flat black paint on all the metal parts. the gun shoots and looks brand new. It shoots 7.62 x 54
Nikon Pro Staff 3x9x40mm, I bought mine on e-bay about 6 months ago prices hovered between $115.00 to $130.00. Models with the bullet drop increments were a little more. Clear glass, holds zero, good name, lifetime warranty and decent price.
