Im unable to choose between a red dot and a rifle scope for my new mini 14. So after looking around i found that Trijicon makes one of their bajillion dollar ACOGs with an integrated holosight built on top of the ACOG. I really dont want to buy a scope thats worth more than my rifle, not to mention my wife would beat me, so my question is are there any types of 1" scope rings that would allow for holosight attachment on top of a rifle scope? Some sort of 1" ring with either a weaver clamp on top for adding a rail or something im unaware of.

Heres the trijicon im referring to http://www.trijicon.com/user/parts/products1.cfm?partid=584

1913/ weaver tactical rings

Picatiny rails that are machined to scope rings can be obtained from:

Millet - Tactical rings in 1" and 30mm variants

ARMs or IOR - Valdada

I would personally use the Millet as they cost about 1/3 the cost of other tactical rings and they are just as good. I would stay away from the Airsoft stuff as they tend to lose zero all the time.

These rings work best with the Docter type red dot sights. Other good ones are from Trijicon, Jpoint/ Optima 2000 aka firepoint. Burris fastfire, Nikko Sterlings to name a few. The NC star variant wont hold zero and will go lights out after 1 mag of 223s.

If your going to mount a red dot on a mini 14 don't get a cheap one!! I would recomend an Aimpoint or something of similar. And get an ulitmak rail and mount the sight low enough to co witness w/ the open sights. You will not be dissappointed with the results.
