I am interested if anyone has this scope on a mini14 ranch, using just factory rings, and if so are the medium height ones correct? Or is there interference? Or do I need to buy a base to convert factory mounts to a picatinny or weaver base. Thanks.
I had one on my Mini for a while. It was a really nice clear piece of glass. The scope was to short in length to use the factory Ruger mounts. I mounted it on a GG&G rail with some medium height rings IIRC.
I have pics of my Mini with the Nikon scope attached in the Mini forum. It's in the gallery under post your mini porn. Page 42.
That should be a very good optic for you. I have a Nikon on my Mini but it is a 2.5-8x mounted out on the Ultimak rail. My Nikon is as bright and clear as can be. And the 2 circles of the BDC get me out as far as I normally want to shoot with the 5.56 round. First circle is on at 235 yards, and second one at 365 yards.
Whether you are going to mount your scope over the action or forward mount "scout style", I suggest using the Warne Q.D. rings instead of the factory rings. It is nice to be able to remove the scope in 3 seconds without tools to use the irons if need be.
They are Warne low Q.D. rings. I doubt you could mount a scope that low over the action though. A scout scope out on the Ultimak rail can be mounted very low.
Cool! I have the ultimak rail with a trs-25 ready to mount on my mini30, but I may put the red dot on a 10/22. What did you use to get the tan color on the metal? Thksan
If you use a 20-24mm scope with no front obj. bell eye relief won't be a problem. I put a Weaver V3- 1-3X20 with the Ruger rings and it works great.
