Mini 14 Target Bipod and Scope

I just picked up a Mini 14 Target. It has the Houge stock on it. It has the factory scope rings with it, but no scope. What do you guys recommend for a scope. I think I would like a silver colored one to match the rifle parts. I will get a bipod later. Does anyone make something that can use the hole in the gas block or an adapter that bolts on the gas block??

Sajomatic,

As far as scopes go, the sky is the limit. How much do you want to spend?

For bipods, I currently use the Harris Bipod adapter.

Harris Bipods HB14 Adapter

It's OK, but has a tendancy to loosen up after a few rounds. I am eventually going to move to a mounting stud.

Nikon Buckmasters Rifle Scope 6-18x 40mm Side Focus Mil-Dot Reticle. Not sure if it comes in silver, but just about the best $300 high power 1" scope going. I have them on both my Target and my 6.5 Grendel conversion in factory rings and they work great.

Do yourself a favor and research getting a recoil buffer - Wilson 1911's work/fit great on a Mini 14.

Mini 14's are hell on scopes -

Add a sling stud to the forearm about 2 1/2" from the gas block. This will be a better mount than the Harris gas block and more accurate for the rifle keeping pressure off the barrel. You can get any standard bipod to fit the sling stud. Easy to install with a T nut.

Thats what I did. Used some epoxy on the threads and on the top of the bipod stud to make sure it would stay in there. Not gonna count on the threads holding in a plastic stock Looks great when finished.

My bipod is mounted on a stud through the fore end of the stock. Works well and has yet to come loose. See Pics.
