I've got a chance to trade my mini 30 (1991 prod date) for a new mini 14 with no money out of pocket. Should i do it? My old 30 is like new with probably less than 100 rds total ever shot thru it & seems pretty accurate, but thinking about only having to stock one caliber (have an ar too) seems like a plus. Both rifles are blue/ wood stock.

Now you say "new". New like your buddy bought it earlier this year... or new like factory in box at the local gun shop never been fired? NIB sounds like a great deal... Newer production from a buddy-make sure you know how it shoots. I would hate to have trade a gun that fires great for a gun that may not due to neglect

supposedly, only test fired from ruger & has sat n.i.b. since purchased. i gave the short version on the deal. it more like a complicated, multiple person deal that could rival MLB trade deadline deals. the long & short is i would give up my 30 & end up with the 14.

If the mini is in "new" and you would like to keep calibers to a minimal then heck yeh.. go for it

Everything I've heard about the newer minis has been good, but there is something to be said about a 30 cal. Tough call.
