Mini 14 tactical deal ?

Shopping for a mini 14, I ran across a local with a 581 tactical, with mo rod and light system, 11 ruger 20 rd mags, 1 5 rd mag for $875.00 total. It sounds good, but is it? This is the standard looking stock.

I've been holding my breath all week waiting for a shotgun I sold to be paid for and picked up. Supposed to happen tomorrow, and then I will make the deal on the mini 14. I was looking for a mini 30, but I only found an old series, so i will go with the mini 14 for now.

I just checked again, and yep, all Ruger factory mags, rifle is clean and in the box. I intend to have it if I can make the deal on the shotgun.

It has a har-bar on it, does the 581 series really need it? I am just on edge here working my shotgun deal and hoping to beat anyone else to the mini 14 I hope to have it all done by tomorrow night or Sunday.

Look at it this way:

$250 for mags
$100 for mo-rod

$525 for the rifle.....

Scooping this package up before anyone else = priceless

Unless you're getting most of the cost from the shotgun sale, I wouldn't wait.

I came across my 580 stainless LE marked mini and did not hesitate to scoop it up that afternoon! It was in a Clyde Armory SCAR stock and came with the following Ruger factory mags:

- (1) 5 rounder
- (11) 20 rounders in the original white boxes & never used
- (7) 30 rounders

IMHO, deals like this don't present themselves as often as you think so don't let it get away.

$$$ is the problem. I need the shotgun proceeds to pay for the package. I will jump on it as soon as I have the cash. My gun fund has been anemic lately with other purchases, so I am stretching a bit. The other hitch is that there is about 80 miles to travel.

That's a great price. Even if you decide your gun doesn't need the strut, you could probably easily sell it to get some of your money back.

I figured that I would sell at least the strut rod, I doubt that I will need it. The mags are a good investment, I will probably keep them all for now. I also don't have a lot of interest in the light, but who knows? Maybe I could use it elsewhere.

I checked this morning, and it's gone! I missed it by a day. That is the story of my life quite often. I'll find another. Thanks for your replies.

I would have bought it last week, but short of $$$. I tried to get him to separate some of the mags and har-bar and then I would have bought the rifle, but he wouldn't separate it out.

Oh well, I hope to sell the shotgun, and then I'll have the fun of shopping. I prefer FTF, but I may just have to buy a new one with 2 mags if I can find one locally.

Well, the deal may still be on. I contacted the mini 14 guy and he said he had just disabled the ad, and not sold the gun. I just finished the shotgun deal and now I'm waiting to hear back on time and place to make the mini 14 deal. This ad was on a local server classified section and usually has more than 200 pistols and rifles on it. With any luck I'll have the package by tomorrow. We are only talking by email so it's kind of slow.

End of story, the guy backed out of the deal. I liked the deal because of ftf and no sales tax, but now that I have enough $$$ I might just buy a new one. Still a little undecided whether mini 14 or mini 30.

mini 14 is a better choice, if you're going to go for the 7.62 x 39mm caliber you are better off with an AK, it's more reliable, as much as i love minis, i will take the AK over it when considering a mini 30

I came back from my LGS about an hour ago with a new stainless mini 14Ranch rifle. I degunked it and ran 20 Golden Bear soft point through it. It locked up on the first shot, I cleared it and ran the rest flawlessly. It's hot here so I just ran through the mag into the berm I use as a target backup out back. I paid a bit too much for it, but I'm happy. Now to get a few extra mags and some more ammo. Going shopping tomorrow, the LGS just gets too much for his ammo $8.00 for 20 Golden Bear.
