I would recommend returning them and buying factory magazines. You know the factory mags will work, and they will last you a lifetime if they are cared for (and if you are worried about a magazine ban passing, then you will need magazines that will last a lifetime.)
I have about 300 rounds through my gen 2, with absolutely no malfunctions. I even have a gen one and it's been flawless too. Not as many rounds through it maybe 100.. Tapco gets an a+ from me.

What model mini are you using them in? I'm convinced the mixed results with tapco mags come from different people using them in different model minis.
I have a 581 Ranch, blued/wood, and it works with both Tapco gen 2s and Thermold magazines. I believe the reason some Minis work with them and some don't has to do with the magwell in the stock.

Interesting point on the magwell. It would be interesting to poll on what mags work with what models or stocks. I wish people could leave more comprehensive reviews on those mags (like on CTD) rather than
"this mags sux i want my munny bak"
I think the magwell definitely might impact which mags work. My Mini so far hasn't liked any aftermarket mags.. and 2 Ruger factory mags I had don't work well in it either. Ruger is replacing the mags, but 4 other Ruger mags seem to work just fine.

Flapjack,
I can tell you that the Tapco Gen2 mags work very well in the Archangel Sparta stock. The Load and feed well, they are very grippy. I have 10 and they have all worked perfectly.
i bought 2 gen 2's, they fit so snug the spring could not push bullets up...i have model 581 ranch wood stock...i no longer have said tapco mags...will always buy factory
I just took my 2 Tapco gen 2's to the range today. One of them had one failure to feed but other then that they ran great. I will be getting a couple more. I do have a Houge stock, not the Ruger one.
tapco gen 2's are for older minis, so if you have a 581 (either sand them down) or wait for gen 3, a few people emailed tapco about the 581 issue and that was there reply, the older magwell is for gen 2

That is pretty interesting...
I have Gen 1s AND Gen 2s
both fit fine in my Troy MCS stocked 185 GB bolt open - bolt closed they have a hard time seating right... but so does my Factory 30.
they were pretty stiff when hand cycling, but some exercise seems to have limbered them up pretty well. (hand cycling 6 FULL magazines in front of the TV made my finger hurt... )
same goes with my factory 20s for my mini 30 - hard to insert on a closed bolt if full
they go in like greased snot if I short load them 1 round though.

Sorry, my gen II's work great in my 581. over 600 rounds now without a
hick up.

yes people still can use it in 581, but there are issues related to the magwell in that series that is not present in the older series which is directly related to the gen 2, there are people that have problems with older series as well, it's just sometimes hit or miss, usually you need more than one mag to find out and some sand paper usually helps a lot of the problems.
I have a 184 series and bought a couple of the tapco gen2's. i put quite a few rounds through each one day at the range and they work flawlessly. well almost flawlessly...i noticed the bolt didnt lock completely open once or twice when the mag went empty and would close upon pulling the mag out. But still, at less than 20 bucks a pop theyre awesome.
I could not get the Tapco Gen II mag to work in my new 582-series tactical, but it worked well in my 185-series Mini. I contacted Tapco and they immediately e-mailed to tell me that they are aware of the problem and are working on a solution. Once they have a new mag ready to go, they'll exchange my Gen II for the Gen III on their dime.
I have a stainless 581. Got two gen 2's, they fit very tight in the magwell. I've run them a couple of times. Each time there are two fail to feed, I pull the bolt back and see the round hasn't been pushed evenly to the lip of the magazine. I always tap the mags so the rounds are all of the way to the rear of the magazine before I use them. When loading, I have found that it is tough to get the rounds in since there is very little clearance front to back. I still like them for some reason. Issue has not yet cost me a missed coyote or hog yet.
Let me premise this by saying that I don't own a single Tapco mag -- this is just reasoning based on the observations of others...
I'm thinking there's an issue with the consistency of the thickness of the material they're making the mags out of. My ProMag polymers are just almost too short (front to back) for typical XM193. With the Tapco mags, I'm thinking the OAL of the rounds is just a hair too much, and it's causing them to drag inside the magazine.
Has anyone experimented with different brands/weights (really the only factor that matters is OAL) to see if there's a difference in the mag's performance?
