Hi gang new to Mini 14's I was wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions for a short to medium range scope in the 1-4 popwer range with a 20mm objective. I was looking at a Millet DMS-1 or a Leatherwood CMR but they use 30MM rings. Rugers rings are $30.00 a piece ouch. I was hoping to find something that would fit the 1 inch rings supplied with the gun. Also I would like a light reticule for night shooting. Thanks

Everyone has a different opinion on scopes, so it's really whatever you want. The rings you can trade in for a different size to Ruger if they look fairly new and still have the original package. My dumba$$ threw the package away a few weeks ago not knowing this and i now need 30mm rings for my scope.

I just ordered UTG quick release low 30 mm rings for my gg&g rail..that's how i decided to do it for my red dot. My scope has low 1 inch rings with qd screws. For irons, I have to take the rail off.

i highly suggest warne Quick detach rings. You can get them in 30mm or 1". They truly do hold zero. It's great being able to go to the iron sights whenever you want.
I got 50 bucks for my 1" ruger factory rings on ebay.. The rings fit more than just the mini so they do sell. Just use that money towards the Warne rings in whatever size you need. You will not regret it.
Jzee, you should try this too. Just say on ebay that you threw out the package, but they are new.. Takes some close up pics, good to go.

The other day I was on Amazon and searched Ruger Mini-14. I was surprised of all the hits. There were some 30mm rings for some really good prices with some good reviews.

I wanted to remove the scope to clean the rifle and IIRC you have to to be able to get the bolt out. Another reason to get Warne QD rings. a little costly but worth it to r and r with no loss of zero!
