I have a 196-series Mini-30 with the old-style flip up disc rear sight, and I'm wondering if I can replace it with the new-style rear sight. The attachment screw seems to be in the same spot, but there's a pin on the new one, which makes me think a conversion will require a permanent alteration.

Apologies if this topic has been done to death before, but my search did not uncover any posts about this particular idea.
