Weaver See-Through Rings for Mini-14 Ranch

Maybe I've just been oblivious to it, but I just recently discovered that Weaver offers a set of see-through scope rings that fit the Ranch Model. I know I searched out such rings in the past, and I came up empty. Anyway, they want about 3 times as much for them as other scope rings, so the cost comes out pretty close to purchasing a rail. I did opt for the rings, though, for my 196-series Ranch, and I'm pleased with the clean look. I wanted this Mini to maintain its Ranch appearance, and I found these to be a nice match.

(some pics to come...)

Just put the Weaver brand see-through rings on my 186 Ranch tonight. Taking it to the range with a 2.5x32 scope in the next few days to sight it in and get an idea of groups since I had it chopped to 16 3/4 and added a flash hider and BC folding stock. I also ordered the XS ghost ring sight - if it comes before I get to the range I'll sight that in too.

I like the see-thru Weaver rings with the straps and 4 screws on top. I also have them for the dovetail on my CZ452 as well.

After I run some groups, it will go to Cryopro. Got my torque wrench and feeler gauge for reassembly after it gets dunked in the cold stuff. Will post results.

I've had the Weaver see-through's for a long time now. Got 'em at Wal-Mart, believe it or not, and don't remember them being much more expensive than the others.

I love 'em. They require a slightly higher cheek weld, but to me that's well worth it.

Before that, I had a rail, and couldn't disassemble the Mini without removing the scope. Having to re-zero after each cleaning was not an option for me. Now, I can use either irons or scope and never have to re-zero; but most importantly -- if the scope poops out, I'm not SOL.

Thanks Joe...First you confirm that I have, in fact, been totally oblivious, and then you tell me I got ripped off too! How 'bout at least a little credit for some decent photos?

Want to confirm the Weaver uses the factory mount points?

My Mini Ranch comes in next week and really want to be able to use the iron sights and a scope. So they are a straight bolt on in the stock mounts?

Yes, these will fit right onto your Ranch model with no alterations needed whatsoever. The Weaver part number is 49723. I should stress that point...Ranch models only...

They go on the stock mounts. I used my rancher for the first time today just to get a feel for it. I installed an XS ghost ring in place of the fold-down sight and used both a 2.5x scope on the see-thru mounts the ghost ring right through the mounts. Worked just like it was designed to work and I was able to alternate between the scope and the iron sight. Now I need to get myself a cheekrest - the scope rides pretty high.

Stripped it and packed it up tonight to send to cryopro tomorrow.

Didn't think the obliviousness needed confirmation. I just figured it loved company (I had to browse through Wal-Mart to get wise.).

Not sure about the price, just it didn't stand out to me, but I may have been so excited to find the ideal solution for me that I didn't much care.

The photos are nice. The wood stock looks better than most I've seen, too (mine's synthetic). Happy?
