Folding Stock for 180 series

HEllo all! I have a 180 series mini 14 and am looking for folding stocks. I have not had much luck. I was wondering of there are any for this model, and also can a newer stock be modified to fit the older model?

The 180 is a one of a kind Mini and very hard to get parts for. A standard folder may work but may also need some minor mods. Good luck. kwg

Do you know if its as simple as shaving some material off the stock to make it fit?

I am not trying to be butt, but are you sure its a 180 and not a 181? If it is a 181 then you should not have problem. I have not handled a 180 but it should be fine. From what I gather most people don't shoot their 180 because it would be hard to fix if something breaks.

Yes, its a 180. I was kinda disapointed when i found out how hard stuff was to find for them. My friends both have 181's and we have compared them quite a bit.

I would say, clean that old girl up and try to keep her as mint as you can and get new model to play with. The accuracy, reliability and attachments just get much better for the 580+ models. I have some pictures of new and old models in Mini Gallery if you like gun porn.

I took a chance and purchased a factory stainless folder off eBay some time ago and made it fit my 195 series mini. Just needed to shave a little off the inside of the stock. Go slow and take a little bit at a time and you should be OK.

Caveat: I don't know what the differences between the 195 and 180 series are though.

folder (maybe)?

My neighbor has a 180 and I have a 186 mounted in a ATI Strikeforce. We put his 180 in my ATI stock. We were able to get it in there and close the trigger group up. The charging handle would rub the side of the plastic stock a little. There was no contact on the metal guide inside the bottom. The top ATI hand guard needs a little mod to make it fit up to the gas block. We could insert a mag in it and release the mag. No problem. An ATI stock cost about $90.00 thru combathunting.com. We figure with a little scrape here and a little scrape there it could possibly work. We have'nt done it yet but it seems it can work? Just something to chew on that could be an option?

Joe

I have a 180 bought new at the JC Penney

in Anchorage in the mid-'70s. I've dragged it around from here to Hell'n gone and fired thousands of rounds through it. It is still a good weapon. I did add a "muzzle brake" to it, but other than that, it is bone stock and I like it that way. It is about due to have the stock refinished and maybe be re-blued, but I don't have any desire to make it into one of the tricked out black guns; it is what it is and what it is is fine with me.

I was in the JC Penny's building in down town Anchorage during the 1970's. As I recall they had a nice selection of guns. But everyone had guns back then. There was a really nice gun shop in Mountain View back then and there was a gun shop not too far off post from Ft. Richardson but i don't recall the street or burough. kwg
