I just got a Mini-14 with a fold under stock and I can't figure out who made it. The serial number indicates it was made in '88 and at first I thought it might have come stock on the gun it fit so well. The stock is wood with a punched out plate steel back end with 2 'rails' on one side and 1 'rail' on the other. When you squeeze the two metal pivot spots by the action (do I sound real dumb to you?) the metal 'stock' folds under and the but plate flattens out against the fore-stock. If this hasn't confused you altogether please let me know what I have here.

PS - I'd sell it if it's worth anything to anyone as I plan to put a full stock on it in the immediate future

I think Federal Ordinance made that. Don't quote me but it might be a place to start. It's really nice looking though! I sure want one.

Wow now that's a handy looking stock. What is that side plate under the bolt lock? And what kind of front sight is that? Looks like a standard one with a hood welded to it.
If only I knew what I knew now, back in '88. I would have stocked up on folding stocks, and "assault rifles".

Well, that was the answer - a Federal Ordinance Stock, you guys are good. I did a search and found 1 just one other picture of it. It is pretty cool but not the most comfortable to shoot. Now that I know it was made by FO I remember having a stock like this on my old M1 Carbine, I think they called it a paratrooper's stock.

Well and other info on it would still be welcome - like what happened to F.O., years of production, etc

Same stock sold on ebay for nearly 200.00 just last week!

Considering that all the current aftermarket folders are cheezy IMO....and sell for $100-$170.00, the extra $30.00 to purchase something quality is well worth the price.

Cool, so what did I win? Do I get the stock!?!?! Ah well, it was worth a try right (how much do ya want for it?)? Glad you were able to track down the manufacturer. For curiositys sake, was the picture you found dark and of a Mini near a closet or in a corner or something?

Hay Yotee. A good friend had one of these stocks. The 2 things that where a problem with his. One is not a big deal. He could only use 20 round mags. Anything bigger and he could not swing the arm out. But the 2nd was a problem. There are round clips on each side of the push buttons. One of his kept popping off. He could not find one to replace it. I think he had it tack welded into place. He sold his last year for $200.00 I think. Just keep your eye on the clip rings. I like the look of them but not how if fit my shoulder. It is very much like the under folder from the AK lines.

Had one years ago, not very comfortable on the shoulder, but excellent compactness when folded. Now have a Butler Creek instead -- much more solid.

If you keep it, consider checking to see if the metal folder arm from an AK could be adapted. Unlike the cheap FedOrd stamping, the AK metal is really solid -- way superior, and can be had (metal only) for about $35-40. Has anyone here tried adapting the AK folder arm? This could probably be done to an old wood stock for a solid, but very economical folder.

I had some stuff happen that is going to prevent me from keeping this so I'm putting it on gunbroker. It comes with a scope mount, 1 - 10 round mag and 3 non-ruger 30 round mags. It is also ported w/2 ports right in front of the front site. Could that be factory ???? It sure is a clean job if it isn't. Anyway contact me if your interested in buying it.
