I just picked up a Mini 14 Tactical and mounted a Leopold Tactical AR 3 x 9 scope. I have a second Mini ASI in 204 Ruger with a 24" .875 barrel and a Leopold varmint style scope.
The ASI gun shoots great but is long and very heavy so I keep that for long range chucks and wanted the standard Mini just for fun shooting. I will shoot a few hundred rounds and see how it is hitting before mounting a strut and getting the trigger reworked.
Just found this site and it is loaded with great information!

Thumbs up Great Forum!

I've been a Mini 14 fan for a couple of decades and I've picked up a great deal of good information from this forum so far. Thanks to all the contributors!

Long time Ruger fan, new member of the Mini community. Bought one because of my proficiency with the M14.

I also have a P345 and 10/22.

New guy here. I was directed to this site by CALGUNS. I live in CA, and I'm an AR guy who is tired of the AR bs that we have to go through here and I'm interested in the mini14. So I'm here to glean some info before I purchase one. So bear with me, I'll try to google what I need and if I cannot find what im looking for I'll ask. TIA

I've been lurking here for about a week or so. I found this board while searching for info about the Mini-30. I'm looking to purchase a 30 off a coworker. It's a model 189, and I have read a fair amount about the steps I may (probably) need to take to rain in my groups. The Mini currently has a Butler Creek folding stock. I also have an AR15, 30-06, 380, and .40. I'm also looking to start reloading in the future and possibly cast. Another coworker is willing to run me through the basics of reloading.

Hello, been a member for years. I don't know much, so I don't add much. I'm shamelessly increasing my post count so I can PM 45K20E4 for a Mag release.

Found this forum last week and have been reading threads every night! I used to have a SS Mini 14 with factory folder but sold it in the early 90's. I did keep my blue Mini 14 in the standard wood stock. Just took it out of the original box and the s/n is a 186 series in perfect shape. I think I put around 200 rds through it before cleaning it and putting it away. What brought me back was a local guy was unloading one and my wife wanted to know if I was interested in it. It's about the same age as mine and in very good condition. Unfortunately he is looking a bit too much for it. I'm going to keep an eye on it and hopefully make a deal soon! I'd really like to add a Mini 30 to my collection to go with the SKS's I have. Anyway thanks for all the great info!

Long time shooter / first time poster

I was raised with guns in the family - best thing my Dad ever did for me. Was out of shooting sports for a while but back in and wonder what kept me away for so long.

Anyway, suburban dad now, Boy Scout leader avid / rabid 2nd amendment defender.

I am "re-gearing".

I have longed for the mini-14 for quite a while and finally just got what I really wanted. I opted for the Mini Target with Thumbhole stock and it's a beauty. Not a single shot through it yet myself but am joining a sportsmans club with 100, 200 and 600 yd range.

I'm going to do for my son what my dad did for me and teach him to respect firearms, defend his right to own them and enjoy the sport. I got a nice bolt action Savage in .22 that my son will train on - similar to what he has been checked out on in at Boy Scout camp.

Glad I found this site, looking forward to lurking and leeching to get back up to speed.

Another new guy here. Just picked up my new 582 series ranch (wood/blued) last week. Look forward to shooting it next weekend. Broke mine down and was pleased to find the upper action fairly tightly secured in the stock -- actually had to give it a nudge or two to free it from the stock. I've learned much from his forum since deciding on the Mini 14 -- thanks!
