Have you done any trigger mods? It does sound like hammer reset but with out more info it's hard to diagnose. What kind of ammo? How old is your 10/22? How many rounds have been through it? Is it a stock barrel? if so try some Stingers and see if they cause the same problems some new 10/22s need a few hundred rounds to break them in and smooth things out. Try the guys at www.rimfirecentral.com they are the gurus for 10/22s
No trigger mods. The rifle is bone stock and it's +15 years old. It was dirty as hell, so I cleaned the bolt and barrell (with a bore snake) and put it back together. I did not clean the trigger group at all. So, I'm going to break it down tonight and inspect.
As long as you are using standard velocity ammo. I would suspect that even though the spent brass is being ejected, that the bolt is not coming back far enough to cock the bolt. Clean it first.
its possible your disconnect spring is either wore out, broken or missing. have you disassembled your trigger mechanism? the disconnect spring is rather small and is easily lost. also want to add that a weak trigger return spring can also be the culprit. but before you suspect any of those try cleaning and lubricating its possible things are just gummed up.

No click when I release the trigger. And when I pull the trigger nothing happens, no click, no nothing, but the trigger will travel...
