I have a new 10/22 All Weather (i.e. stainless, synthetic stock). Does anyone know how to fit sling swivels? I know Uncle Mikes makes a front swivel that clamps into the barrel band but how can I add a swivel to the butt stock?

Putting one on a wood stock is easy but has anyone done it to the Ruger synthetic stock? The butt plate doesn't seem to be removable so there is no way to put a reinforcing washer inside the hollow butt. I'd never trust just using a wood screw.

This is what I did. I purchased the Uncle Mike's kit, ditched the barrel band, drilled a hole in the front where the band was and screwed in the short screw swivel and washer. I drilled another hole roughly 3 inches from the butt end of the stock and screwed the long screw swivel and washer in to it. This was all done on a synthetic stock. Screws aren't going anywhere. Just make sure the holes you drill are smaller then the screws so they take a good bight into the plastic. The instructions that come with the kit have drill size info. I just used any old bit that was smaller then the screw.

Thanks for the reply. I figured I could fit the forearm swivel either in the barrel band or remove the band and just mount it as on a wood stock.

It was the butt swivel I was concerned about but if you've had no problems with it staying put, I'll just do the same thing.

I've done several different type synthetic stocks. The standard current Ruger is hollow as I recall. Definately use the Uncle Mike's Swivel Set which you described . The front swivel is cleaner with their Barrel band piece.

Follow the instructions for the buttstock stud but apply some quick two part epoxy (JBWeld 5 min works) to the stud. This process has always worked for me.
