Sounds good to me 280man. You're the first person I've seen talking about Clerke Match grade barrels. I always see the ad in Shotgun News at J&G sales ltd. for their package deals on Clerke bull barrels and Hogue O/M stocks. I'm thinking about trying one out for myself. Were are you getting yours from?

280man. Someone in this forum has one. Said it shot good. When you get your rifle up to speed, we would like to see how it shoots against the Green Mountain barrels.

Ralrein;

I found their website and ordered direct from Clerke. It was 84.50 total. UPS five day turn around.

Cajungeo;
Bent Barrel has one. When I read his post and saw his picture I thought he had mispelled it, but then I found the web site and saw it was Clerke. Green Mtn didnt have the 16" on hand that I wanted so I went with Clerke. We'll see how it do!

Hey 280man....

I have a 20" blue fluted Clerke and it's a keeper. It will outshoot my 18" sst fluted Green Mountain using the cheapie Wolf ammo. Only have about 250 rounds through it ,so I hope there is a little more improvment.
Good luck with yours..

Welcome to the forum TimW. There is still time to enter our Oct shooting contest. I only shot 60 pts. out of 100 possible You could be this months champ. Course I'm not done yet. I just bought some more ammo, and will try to do better this weekend. I have my first match sat. morning. Will get in some practice Fri. afternoon.

I luv working on these little rifles, then going to the range to see improvements.

cajungeo.....

Thanks for the welcome....tell me a little about what's legal in the custom shoot. Went crazy and now I don't have a stock 10/22 in the house.
My Clerke barrel gun has VQ hammer and sear and a bug hole tuner in a wood plus stock. Using a Simmons 6-18 Pro Air scope.
Bein an ole retired guy,I try to be a little frugal at times. My trigger stop is a # 71/2 lead shot behind the trigger plunger. Just squeeze it with a pair of pliers to get to stop point right and walla...have it on all my 10/22s.
I printed out one of the targets.so I'll give it a go if it warms up a bit...had snow this mornin..way too early.....

Thanks again...

Hey Tim. Check out the Rules for the Custom Class in the Shooting Contest section. If it isn't in the rules its legal. 50 yds. Each spot is worth 5 pts. A miss is zero. 100 pts possible. Give it a try.

I'm going to retire after next year. It must be nice to put on a permenant party hat, and play all day I'm looking fwd to it.

Did you say snow? What part of the country do you hail from? Down here in Louisiana it was 88 degrees today.

Kinda figured with a name like Cajungeo you were from Bayou Country. And I sure do like your music....
I'm in the Northwest corner of Pennsylvania....Cold Country. One good thing about winter is I spend a lot of time tinkerin on the guns.
This retirement is great...first thing I did was threw the alarm clock out the window. Got a C&R license and sure do give the credit cards a workout. Got into the Garands so the 10/22s have been collectin dust. Gonna wipe em off and see if I can give ya a little competition..

You have a fine one...

I'm curious on what kind of grouping you guys are getting with this barrel and what kind of ammo you use. I'm too cheap to buy target ammo and it's pointless since I just plink around but I'd like to know if it would be worth it to replace my 20" sporter barrel.

jfw, I have a GreenMountain barrel. With cheap Winchester Dynapoints $9 - $12 a brick I average .560" groups at 50 yds using a scope and benchrest. The match barrels have a tighter chamber (bentz) which are capable of .500 or better with match ammo. I am ordering some match ammo. Hope for .400" avg or better for 5 shots at 50 yds. My std "tuned" 10/22 will shoot similar but at 25 yds.
