Yeah, I got the announcement. Looks like Ruger's version of the ill-conceived and justifiably ill-fated Remington 710s. Wasn't impressed.

IMO (and not that Ruger cares what I think), Ruger should leave the entry-level market to Savage, who has it very well-covered. They can't compete with Savage, either on price or accuracy.
Ruger's money is better spent on upgrading their barrels, which have a reputation for mediocre accuracy, and advertising that investment.

Yeah, I got the notice too. Didn't see much to comment on. Looks like a Savage Axis clone to me. Just one more move on Ruger's part away from quality and towards cheap.

I dont see it like you guys do. Im a ruger fan and have always been. Look at how their 1911 took off. Its a damn good gun for the money. Every ruger Ive ever owned was rock solid and dead nuts depenable. MOA is fine accuracy for hunting and most every ruger I ever shot was capable of at least that if not better. Im anxious to check out some reviews before I write it off. I dont have a problem with ruger building something everyone else has, personally I would just as soon have a ruger as one of the others.

I am a Ruger fan as well. That's why I get notices from them. I own some of their products, I just don't see anything about this "new" rifle to be excited about. If it were a new concept then yes, I would look forward to seeing one up close but it's not, it's an entry level rifle (read inexpensive) aimed at the entry level market and it looks a whole lot like a Savage, or a TC venture or any number of others that are already out there. That doesn't mean Ruger is a bad company, just that they are chasing the dollar more than they are chasing quality, like most other manufacturers these days.

I'm a Ruger fan and have a few....

I'm going to hold my judgment on the new rifle till I hold one...

I'm just not in the market at this minute for a rifle...

By the was it sure looks a lot like my Tikka T-3

Ruger fan here as well, albeit not a big bolt gun fan. Great to see folks just automatically discount the new gun because of looks. It's a hunting gun, the deer don't care what it looks like any more than the mugger cares what your CCE looks like. Function over fashion!

Seems it got awfully good reviewing from GunBlast.
