Cougars are slowly making their come back too. In the last 5 years we've had the carcasses of 2 cougars recovered in Illinois after they either died from natural causes or were run over by vehicles. Prior to these 2 cats, cougars were thought to be extinct in Illinois like the bears. What the DNA tells us is that both the big cats and the bears came down into Illinois from Wisconsin. And they pretty much followed the Mississippi River too. They were all north of St. Louis and in the northwestern half of the state. So there is something already going on with the animals and they're beginning to show up where they aren't at all expected. Now imagine if we suddenly have a SHTF situation develop, how fast wild animals will start to reclaim their old territories like Iowa, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio? If left unchecked, there could be like a wave or tide of wild animals re-populating their old haunts in pretty short order. Rumors keep persisting that wolves have also come back into Illinois. Nothing positive has yet surfaced to confirm this issue. So we are seeing something slowly starting up now with wild animals. I just want everybody to be very careful out there and watch out for yourselves and your families.
