GP100 Grips

I just picked up a new stainless steel GP 100 with the standard rubber grips, I like the looks of the grips with the rosewood inserts but I'm not willing to trade function for form.

Does anyone have experience with these grips? Do they function as well as the stock grips or worse?

My GP 100 had the rosewood inserts until I broke one panel. They are great to shoot and very comfortable. I broke mine by over tightening the grip screw, so be careful and pay attention when putting them on...

i have the gp100 6 inch and the super redhawk 7 and a half. they both had the insert grips and i swaped the out with the houge rubber. for me the houges work better for recoil.

My GP had the rosewood insert grips until the rubber started to out gas and get sticky. They were 25 years old, so I'll let it slide.

I replaced them with the Hogue finger groove grips. They are very comfortable, but just don't have the same character. Recoil is about the same either way...

There is always this option..Wiley Clapp grip set.

The Hogue grip is comfortable and I have become quite accustomed to it but I agree - it just lacks character.

Those Wiley Clapp grips sure are nice looking, I might just have to find a set of those.

BTW - what is that front sight on that pistol? I have a Hi-Viz on mine but I don't care for it all that much. It causes me to shoot high because I automatically want to align the sights with the entire Hi-viz "dot" visible which actually has the front sight too far elevated.
It doesn't seem natural to align the front sight with a portion of the "dot" obscured by the rear sight.

45K20E4 - where have you been? Haven't "seen" you around for awhile. You provided the inspiration for my Mini 14 build (can be seen in the Mini Porn section) - thanks.

I've been lying low the last few months. Lots of stuff going on at home and work....but I've been creeping back to the site.

Website says it's a Novak fiber optic sight.

I have the Hi-viz F.O. on my GP and love it. A buddy in the gun club has a set of Wiley Clapps on his GP, I'll ask where he got them.

I like the Hogue rubber grips that come with the GP-100. I also like the looks of the Hogue wood grips, but only for open carry (dates with the wife, etc.)

FWIW I went old school with wood grips on mine. Shape is a perfect fit to my hand and it distributes the recoil well.

>>There is always this option..Wiley Clapp grip set.<<

Just got a set of these myself, with the gun in question attached. :-)

Update: Got the gun but really don't care for full sized grips on a 3" gun. So, I installed a set of GP100 "compact" grips instead. I like the look much better. Of course, this is just a personal thing.
