While I also like autos, there is something very special about a revolver. They never stovepipe or fail to operate, 5,6, or more for sure!
I carry a S&W 337 airlite for carry and have a few other snubs salted around the house for security.
Of special delight is the addition of a new .45 ACP cylinder to my 3rd Gen Colt SAA .45 LC. Adding and sizing the new 45 ACP cylinder myself was an easy task. While I shoot other revolvers more accurately, there's nothing like holding and shooting a real Colt SAA.
My favorite revolver is my Model 15-2, .357 mag with 6" barrel Dan Wesson that I bought new over 30 years ago. Still looks great and shoots like a dream. Shoot it every chance I get.
Set out once to make one of those handgun "wheels" that some folks occasionally photograph and display on firearms forums but it became a pile. This represents only the .38 Special chambered revolvers from the menagerie and consists of twenty-something revolvers from every decade in the 20th century. My all time favorite of all revolvers kept around here is the Smith & Wesson Model 10-6 Heavy Barrel, shown on the top of the pile. A plain and common revolver shipped from the factory in June of 1971, it was my first handgun acquisition in 1975 and has seen very heavy shooting and carry use since then.
No .38 Special handguns were scuffed or scratched in constructing the pile.
Here's a fairly recent testing at 10 yards of specially prepared target handloads using hollow based wadcutters, comparing the plebeian Model 10 Heavy Barrel against it's more competition oriented stablemate, a Smith & Wesson Model 14 K-38 Masterpiece. The premium .38 Special target revolver doesn't really shoot groups any tighter than the service oriented Model 10. Both are built on Smith & Wesson's K-Frame. Love the K-Frame guns and love older, traditional Smith & Wesson revolvers.
My favorite revolver! S&W model 60 no dash. I was lucky to find this beautiful gun at a local gun store. It was carried by a court bailiff in my area for years, and it looked like it had never been used. I replaced the original wood grips (which I put away for safe keeping) with the pink Hogue grips. I just love it!
Shortened to 4.25" Ruger SRH in 454 Casull = 405gr Beartooth WLNGC's @ 1330fps the bonus is I can also shoot my 200gr 45 Colt cowboy loads on up to my top 45 Colt loads I have a crimson trace laser grip installed as well.
Hi Camp Cook, I noticed those laser grips in your picture before I saw your description. I have laser grips on all my defensive pistols. The more I use the laser, the more I appreciate them. Focusing on the laser dot on the threat is more natural than trying to use sights. Also, the weapon can be fired well from any position including the weak hand.
Those revolvers shown in your photo look like serious business for any potential threats.

Can you believe this thread is 10 years old. Heck my favorite wheelgun has changed atleast 4 or 5 times since this thread started. Currently my favorite is a S&W 625 Mountain Gun in 45 Colt or a Willy Clapp Ruger GP-100 3" in .357. The way this thread is going my favorite wheelgun may not have been built yet but I will still be able to post about it 10 years from now. . . . . . .

That is what I bought them for I used/carried these handguns for wildlife defense while prospecting solo in remote wilderness areas here in British Columbia & Alberta I liked/carried the 4.25" gun so much that I sold the 7.5" gun to a friend that had it also shortened.
I loaded bullet weights from 240gr - 405gr my carry loads ended up being either 300gr XTP-Mags @ 1500fps or 405gr Beartooth WLNGC's @ 1330fps.
Gave me a sense of security having that gun in my Bob Mernickle cross draw holster on my hip or in its Mernickle cross draw shoulder holster.
With the laser and the 300gr XTP-Mag loads I group minute of rabbit head out to 30 yards without a rest.
I have had this for about 10 years.. only shoot about 10-15 rounds thru it yearly.. but will soon start to shoot more..Taurus 669 .357 4" barrel with Hogue Monogrip instead of the factory wood grip
I also love the Model 15. You can drive tacks with them & their not a bad defensive handgun with the right ammo we have now-a-days. Would also like to have a Model 67 also. Tom
