What brand do you guys use? I've always bought CCI mag small rifle 450 for my 223 reloading. I use H335 for my primary loads and have had no problems. I bought some Magtech primer yesterday for the price, $18.99/1000 compared to CCI $28.99/1000. Have any of you tried Magtech brand?
As of lately, I buy whatever primers my dealer has in stock, either CCI or Winchester.
They both have worked well and the price got bumped to $30 per 1000.
I've always used Fed 215 for my .22-250 with H-380 but last year I discovered that going to CCI Large Rifle shrunk my groups substantially. I doubt it was the brand difference as much as the difference in mag vs reg. Fed, CCI & Win are all quality primers.
No experience with the Magtech brand.
I went to Sportsman's warehouse again for lunch break and noticed the same brand of primers I bought for $18.99 went up $6, now $24.99! I'm glad I bought when I did, I'm thinking about buying up some powder this week that has been the same price for a while, it may be fixing to up as well.
tri70,
Congrats on the buy! I just did the same thing with rimfire rounds..... Many, many rimfire rounds! This price escalation is beginning to get serious enough for newbies to abandon shooting for gardening...................NAH!
I mostly buy Federal. I have used most of the other name brands over the years and have had only 1 primer failure. All seem to work fine. If I knew or heard of a situation where 1 brand worked better than the others I would not hesitate to use it. But I try to support our Minnesota companies when I can.
I live about 20 miles from the Federal plant and know some people who work there.

IMHO, Federal primers ARE the one that work better than others. The M series of primers have a huge following and are highly regarded in the shooting world.
With Fed primers you can support the workers of our state and load with one of the best if not the best.
How about asking some of your friends at the plant when the reloading world could expect some Fed primers to hit the selves. The 210M and 215M have been non existent for over a year. I know they are supporting the war effort, but it would be nice to have the inside scoop as to when handloaders will be able to purchase Fed primers again.
I have been using Wolf primers, haven't had a problem yet and they are cheap. CCI works well. I had problems with Winchester in military brass. The Winchester seems to soft, crush easily and had some duds.
