I went to the gun show that was held recently in Jackson to buy rifle powder. Was hoping to get 4 or 8 lbs of H335 or Varget. They only had 1 lbs containers. The fellow recommended Benchmark, so I bought an 8 lbs can. I have found some material on the powder for 223, but not much. Does anyone load with it and what amounts do you use with 55 g bullets?
Thanks. I've printed it all out and will try a few at different weights to see how well they shoot. Me and the 11 year old grandson went out today and put 120 rounds through the Mini 14. I am having a problem keeping the scope tight. I've put locktite on the screws, but the scope rings keep coming loose.
Well I finally got to go to the range yesterday (Sat) and try several rounds of Benchrest. I had 55 g Winchester bullets with the cannelure and loaded behind them 22.9, 23, 23.5, and 24 g of Benchrest. At 50 yards the 22.9 and 23 g bullets were almost touching one another. The other grain amounts were two inches or more apart. Also, the cases were not thrown but 10 feet or so rather than 20-30 feet. I'm going to load about 50 more rounds and see what happens. I'll let you know.
