Deer season is fast approaching. Who has loaded the 60gr nosler partition with good accuracy results and what were they? I have varget and accurate 2230 for powders.
Here is what I have done:
scored a 20 pack of federal factory ammo for $23.00 with the 60gr nosler and fired it for accuracy and chrono'ed it. It sprays like a shotgun at 50 yards, about a 3" group out of an AR and around 3.5" out of my mini. Velocity was right at 3175 over 7 shots.
I loaded up a couple test batches with the minimum charge of 2230 and + .5gr, and the nosler recommended OAL, no surprise, they are all over the place.
With limited time to develop, does anyone have a recommended OAL? Should I go long with this thing and just back it a little off the lands? I've been using a "light crimp" with a lee factory crimp die.
Any other advice appreciated. I can up the powder charge which should help a bit, but so far these bullets are really sucking for me. Or i could switch to varget but i have zero experience with it.
