My question would be where did they get the information? Was it "leaked" by a government employee? If so then there should be criminal chrges filed... at the very least there sould be a civil lawsuit.
To create the map, The Journal News submitted Freedom of Information requests for the names and addresses of all pistol permit holders in Westchester, Rockland and Putnam. By state law, the information is public record.
As much as it sucks, this is public information pretty much anywhere if someone cared to look or ask for it. I don't know what they think they accomplished by publishing it. Whatever it is was not well thought out as is normal fol libtards but, I don't think they did anything illegal. Asinine no doubt but not illegal.

The leftmedia tried to accomplish the same in oregon but the situation was thrown out of the state congress do to the outrage-not outcry,of chl holders.The state almost caved-but were reminded that in the past that they refused to relinquish information about license plate holders of motor vehicles,after one person bought the whole list from the dmv in an effort to publish who were "bad drivers".Personally -I thought that it was a good idea to keep people from being motor operated maniacs!
Illinois' attorney general tried to pull a political stunt like that with the FOID data and was shut down hard by the state police and legislature. Seems a lot of the cops didn't want their addresses getting in print....
Also seems like the antigunners are trying to "shame" us evil old gun owning reprobates with "exposure".

I just read another article about that NY release of data......Now the CHL crowd has turned it around and given out the name,address,phone #,google earth photo of the residence,and list of personal info gleaned from the publishers credit card info!All of that for Christmas.....I hope that the publisher has a Merry Christmas!!!

If you live in that area, cut out the advertising in that paper, and take it into where you shop, or anyone you do business with.
Then in a very nice, calm voice, explain that as long as that business advertises with this paper, you will not spend one penny with them again.

It does not have to be gun owners even, but anyone who values our rights should stand up, and just say "no thanks" to any business that runs ads in that paper.

On another note, I've done this, and many others do as well with "No Weapons" signs in businesses.
I just pull off the sign, and ask to talk to the manager. (The sign is a good visual aid, and if it's torn in the process, so much the better in my view.)
When the manager comes out, I hand them the sign, indicate that as business they have the right to refuse to serve/sell or do business with me, but that I just wanted them to know that I also have the same right to not spend my money with the business.
As a parting "shot" I point out that criminals love to see these signs, since they know that business is an easy target.
