Sen. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J., and Rep. Carolyn McCarthy, D-N.Y., with the backing of gun control groups, are drafting a bill that would ban the sale of high-capacity magazines such as the one that was used allegedly Saturday by Jared Lee Loughner, the man accused of murdering federal Judge John Roll and trying to assassinate Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., according to two gun control activists working with McCarthy's staff.

I think -- you know, we've got to sit down and really come to grips with what is sold to the average citizen in America. I have no problem with people being licensed and buying a firearm. But these are weapons that you are only going to be using to kill people in close combat. That's the purpose of that weapon. You can put a hellfire switch on it. I aim at what I want to shoot and hit it. Even with a hi-cap magazine. I dont have a problem with people owning hi-cap mags. I own dozens. Does that mean Im gonna go shoot a theater up or go on a killing spree. Why hell no. Beta mags that are overpriced and dont work worth a damn are for losers apparently. Banning hi-cap magazines is like Bloomberg banning 16 oz. sodas. If someone is that set on shooting a lot of people, they will just buy more low-cap mags and practice reloading. Duh.
If their talking about those 100 round bata mags they can have them, they are heavy and they jamb. If their talking about standard capacity 20 and 30 round AR magazines and standard capacity 30 round AK magazines, well those are standard equipment.
Yea, I know. It just cracks me up when they call any magazine over X amount of rounds high capacity and the X changes from week to week. What a frickin joke.
In Switzerland, every head of household is government issued an assault weapon with high capacity magazines and ammo. Violent crime is almost non existent. Many years ago a few US states banned magazine capacities over 10rds, yet there has been no reduction in violent crime...move along wingnuts, move along.
Shes right for a change...we all gotta sit down and talk. Talk about holding people who screw up accountable that is. Unfortunately thats not in the liberal mindset since it would address the root of the problem and not continue to put a band aid on the problem. With Liberals its not about whats right or even what would make sense, no its all about what would "feel good" irregardless if its a solution or not.
