I am interested in your Mo-Reaper muzzle brake and Front sight for my 580 series mini w/ a non-tapered barrel, and was just wondering the best way to remove the factory front sight from the barrel prior to installation.

Wood block w/ a hammer & some Break Free? What would you recommend?

Also is the AK style front sight post adjustable for elevation, or is it fixed?

Our experience with the removal of the factory front sights has shown that the longer they've been on, the more stubborn they are during removal. So, for the 580 & 581 series Mini's, they will typically come off with a little less effort.

Our instructions include a process that is intended to avoid marring the barrel. Patience is key to the process. The sight will come off. After removing the roll pin, there is nothing but tension holding the sight in place, so using a piece of hardwood to drive the sight forward is one effective way to do the job.

I usually put some masking tape around the barrel just behind the sight to protect the barrel's finish, and then drive off the sight using a scrap piece of aluminum stock and a hammer. Using some penetrating oil in advance is a good idea.

I just got my Mo-Reaper and Rod in today. The factory sights do not want to come off at all.. well, more specifically the roll pin. Its just stuck in there. I've already soaked it in BreakFree and will try again in an hour. The steel punch I was using even started mushrooming outwards at the end. Any other suggestions if the BreakFree doesn't work?

SO I soaked the sucker overnight in BreakFree and with a little more effort it came loose this morning. Lucky for me, the front sights came off pretty easy.. I always hear that's the hardest part.

The roll pin is usually the easy part...Glad it came off...

FYI, my older Mini 180 series had the front site soldered on! The roll pin came out easily, but I had to carefully heat the site to get it off. Nasty work.
