This has been an invaluable website for helping me decide where to go with building this rifle the last few weeks. Lots off good information and better, lots of hands on opinions and reviews.
Being mostly into the old west theme, I decided it would be best to invest in at least one modern tactical rifle and pistol to be the main first choice for use in the event of a serious threat to life and limb.
Heres what I have built for an all around defensive tool for our property and livestock here.
581 series with ATI Stock
Tapco Short front grip
Accu-Strut Barrel stabilizer
Recoil Buffer from buffer tech ( sliced on the bandsaw to the correct thickness)
NC Star red/green dual Lasr sight zeroed for close range , about 40'
Vortex Sparc Red Dot zeroed at 50 Yds
Butler Creek #4 flip scope covers on each end of the Sparc
Magpul Flip up BUIS set for 100% co-witness through the Sparc
Front BUIS sits atop a YHM gas block riser to level it up with the 7" rear rail over the reciever.
I also didnt like the gap at the rear of that add on rail, so I cut a section of one of the spokes out of a plastic steering wheel on a 7100 series Simplicity garden tractor and machined it to fill that gap. I'm pleased with the reults, both looks and function.
A 3 point sling built from parts for Specter and UAG Slings, & whatever else was in my box of misc sling parts..
When my wallet recovers, goin to add a Vortex QD swing mount 3x magnifier as well. Possibly a light too...
its weighing in at 10.5 lbs as it sits without the mags, so thats going to bear consideration too as to adding any more utilities.
