Here is my mini-
581 series
Mini 30 Ranch
Black synthetic stock w/ S/S
Upgrades/'Mods'-
BC folder (permanently open, stupid laws) with paracord wrap cheek rest
Black Mo-Reaper front sight/muzzle brake (awesome)
Pre-ban 30 round mag (special thanks to therobfather)
Vacuum cleaner belt buffers
Blackhawk! 1.25" web sling
Choate handguard (looks way better than stock)

Maybe painting the stock OD green, keeping the checkering black? And the re-wrap the wire stock in OD or camo paracord?

Hey anyone have a Remington model 597? I have a ProMag Archangel 5.56 stock kit for it with lots of add-ons/extras that I'm considering selling. It looks like an AR. Message me for info.

Sorry my camera is my Blackberry, thus the crappy quality. The last pic is with my 10/22 wearing a ProMag Nomad stock, btw.

Here is the next update...Ultimak rail with optic....still gotta finish up the Duracoat job on the barrel, flash hider and receiver.

I LOVE flash hider you got there. Ive been looking for an m14 style one but it needs to have a new roll pin drilled. Where did you find yours?

Hey, I think I saw where you figured out it wouldn't work on your model?

Anyway ways, just fyi I had the HARDEST time trying to find the stock.

I found 2-3 companies that said they had it in-stock. So I ordered it, only to find out in a few days they didn't have it in stock (this ended up putting allot of my money on hold).

One company in particular (FEDtactical Direct) had my money "pending" for a week... said it would get refunded... ended up actually posting... then finally refunded it. Dude I was talking with through e-mails was rude as hell too. Acting like it wasn't his fault. Not saying it was, but he wasn't quiet getting the point that my money was locked up. Other companies refunded within a day... his took a week. Idk. That company has tons of great reviews... I just had a really bad experience.

Soooo I ended up physically calling cheaper-than-dirt and talked to an extremely nice lady who found their very last Spartastock out of a warehouse in South Carolina.

My recommendation is call the company first, see if they ACTUALLY have it (so it's not a drop-shipment sort of operation) then pay for it.

Cheers!

Well here is my mini 14 in it's latest configuration. It's now very light and compact. The sight picture is awesome, and the stock has got the best shape i have ever handled. It might be done...seriously.

Barrel cut to 16.5" (thanks John)
Mo-Reaper (thanks str8shooter)
ASI adjustable gas block
Steel ventilated handguard
Gun Doc trigger job
Tech Sights rear sight with .082 aperture insert
rear buffer
side mounted swivel studs
Spectre Gear universal 2 point cqb sling
Bell & Carlson graphite stock painted OD green (thanks Codger)

It can be seen in it's prior state in the "old school tactical" gallery thread

Thanks, I decided to go with a stock in town I could lay my grubby hands on, since I couldn't have the sparta, I went with the Tapco collapsible stock, not the fanciest but a nice platform I think. Its got the top rail for goodies and bottom rail for a bipod or a hand-grip. Its a start.

Haven't shot it for groups yet, but it's super quick on target and drops brass in a neat pile in front of the next bench. prior to the barrel chop, it was shooting about 2 1/4" groups at 100 yards with a scope, i would think it should be slightly better now. I will just be shooting irons with it now, and if i can manage 4" at 100, then i will be happy

Sure, and thanks! I just tapped the bottom and screwed in a simple Promag rail, and added a Magpul AFG. The stock is an Archangel Sparta, the sling hook is homemade from some crap I had kicking about, and the optic is a SpectreDR. Backup sights are Magpul BUIs, and the muzzle brake is just a cheap pin-on it came with.

I just installed an Archangel Sparta stock and accu-strut on my 581 series. Looks ok but it is noticeably heavier now than my 580 series with the Hogue stock. Jury is still out. Needs sights and brake yet. Guess I should say it needs sights and I want a brake.

My Mini-14 "battle rifle". Has a Choate MB/FS, Federal Ordnance handguard (same as the Choate), Accu-Strut, Tech-Sight, and a Thermamold 30rd mag. Trying to get the blued steel handguard, but keep getting outbid on Ebay. Also want to mount a bayonet but I don't think I have enough room with the accu-strut.

Magpul MBUIS is affordable, good stuff...

don't let the polymer body fool you.

Well, I ended up ordering a set of Troy Tritium's and a Trijicon Reflex for it. I suppose they will make a good setup.
Thinking about a Mo-Reaper but don't need the sight that comes on it.
Any ideas?
