When ya get a chance, no rush. I do appreciate the info and feedback. Kinda wouldn't mind going mine in a 6x45 (6mm 223) for ease of use. I will need to talk to some barrel companies about the twist rate. Will most likely go with the 1-9.25 of the Savage, partly cause their barrels are cheap. I need to do some measurements on a 243 barrel I have and see if there would be enough meat at chamber end to cut off the 243 chamber and ream out to the 6x45, and still have enough to vut threads and shoulder for the mini. Do yo happen to remember how deep (long) the threads were?
Did you make your own gas block of machine the barrel to factory block dia? I was kinda thinking of a sporter weight barrel, and then I could machine the gas block area to factory size, or try to have the block opened up a bit larger.
On the lathe, I have gotten used to slower, with a little machine, it dictates how fast I can do anything. I am self taught on all this so I learn a lot by reading and pictures.
