Well congrats on being a new parent!!! Man, I've been so busy myself. Today is the first time I've been back on the forum since I replied to you, so I feel bad about not knowing about the baby. I'm really happy for you, that's just so great. Looks like I might get to shoot some now, its been killing me. BTW, the bedding job did wonders...no more fliers! I've also added a MO ROD/REAPER combo and this thing really rocks now. Most people won't try this muzzle brake because of the price, but I gotta say its a quality made piece and it really works. I was so tired of the bipod jumping after every shot, and now it doesn't move at all. I wasn't sure if I would like the ball post sight but i do. It's made me want to use my irons more because it seems to work better with the rear sight...well, for me anyway. Sorry to ramble. Best wishes to the new family and god bless you all. Drop a line when you have time, and thanks again for the help.

Hey Bud, nice work! I had my first child and have been super busy these days and I haven't had much time for the forum or the range recently. Good to see you accomplished what you set out to do. These rifles aren't as open to accessories as the modern carbines, but there are many options, you just have to use a little ingenuity. I know what you mean about going over the design in your head, and trying to visualize it (I have an engineering background). Some people simply don't like the challenge (or refuse to alter the stock) and go with whatever is easier, or readily available. That is what I love about my Mini, it is unique and I have mine set up like no other. Not to say I wouldn't encourage others to do the same thing I have done with mine. I love shooting mine with the sling, and it helps immensely during long firing sessions to stabilize the rifle and take the weight off my left arm a bit. Well, glad to hear it worked out and I am happy I could help steer you in that direction.

Hey BangBangPlay. Been a while, hope your doing ok. Finally got the sling swivels on a few weeks ago, and was going to send a few pics but I can't get it to post right for some reason. I'll mess around with it later today. I wound up mounting them on the inside because of the checkering. It takes a little of the meat away and I wasn't happy about the shallow threads. Yeah, I could have used epoxy and it would have been fine no doubt, but that gave me all the more reason to try it....I couldn't get it out of my head! All in all it turned out pretty good. It may look strange but its solid. At least I can carry it across my back now the way I always wanted to. I do need to get a longer sling though.

Ok, I thought that was what I saw. Wow, that did work out well. I thought about putting one on the side, but now you've got me wondering. Ok, no more brainstorms until I get the things, so I'm not going to aggravate you for a while.(really?). Gonna wait on Midway, they should have them the around the first of July. Thanks for all the info, You've really helped me out. If it doesn't look too bad when I'm done I'll send a pic. Still waiting to shoot, lot of rain here the last few days.

I know it probably is overkill, so I'll just wait and see what the hardware is like. When I cut the hole for the stud I noticed that even though the stock is hard, its on the verge of being brittle. Same thing when I bedded it, it cut a lot easier than I thought it would. You could tap it, but personally I would give more trust to a small hole and a wood screw. Thats why I mentioned the epoxy. I wouldn't give it much thought If it was a wood stock, and I bet yours feels pretty solid. I'm new to this type of mount (always used Uncle Mikes) so thanks for the pic, I might try that on one of my other guns. BTW I remember seeing a different pic of your gun and was wondering do you have the sling mounted to the top of the butt stock? I've looked and can't find it now, but maybe it was someone else. I didn't get to shoot today after all. It's driving me nuts not knowing if the bedding job was worth it or not. For once I have plenty of ammo but not enough time!

Yeah, I was hoping to get them at Midway, I don't know how long they've been out of stock. I found them a few other places for about the same price. I'm sure it would hold fine with a little epoxy or such on the screws, I guess I'm just a little paranoid...If it can happen it will happen to me. I've had another idea about this for long time. I know it sounds crazy, but do you think it could be mounted from the inside? Thats the way I did the Harris stud mount for the bipod. The inside would have to be cut a little and use some epoxy. If so, I would put one on the butt stock the same way. It would have to pull through the stock to come off. Yeah, I know, but it might just work! I'm going to order a couple in a few days....I spent all my money on ammo. Hope to shoot some tomorrow...I bedded the stock a couple weeks ago and haven't got to try it yet. Considering I did it, it actually came out pretty good....hope it holds! Thanks for everything, I'll let you know when I screw it up!

Thanks so much for the info. I don't mind drilling holes, I already have mounted a stud for a Harris bipod and I had to mod that a little to get it the way I wanted but it has worked perfect so far. Depending on how long the bracket is I think it might work with machine screws...it would be really solid that way. Ok, you've convinced me, I'm gonna try to find one...it just looks so right on your gun. Thanks again for the reply....some guys don't like it when you send them a message. I'm pretty much new to the Mini but if I can help in any way just ask. God Bless.

Absolutely, I originally had a synthetic stock on my 580 tactical, so I checked the stock wall diameter. It may be a little thinner than the wood stock but it should give you enough bite for the provided screws. I drilled the holes slightly smaller than the screw diameter and didn't even use a tap, I let the screws tap themselves. It is very strong, comfortable, and looks good. Even thought you will have to put a few small holes in your stock, it is way better than other sling mounts for the Mini. Well worth it if you ask me.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but your the only one I know so far that is using that type of sling mount on the forearm. I agree that it looks like it was meant for the gun. I'm thinking about putting one on the factory synthetic. Do you think it would mount ok, and how is it holding up for you so far? I would value your opinion. Thanks.
