My Norinco M1A's op rod guide is in need of replacement. It wiggles side to side allowing the op rod to cant and come off the track and separate from the bolt if any outward pressure is used to rack it. Weapon functions fine while shooting, but I want to get it fixed as it's a nuisance and I think it'll probably cause damage later on. I need to find a break down visual on how to remove the front gas block and it if it is possible without a bunch of special tools. I'd like to do it myself if possible so any help with how to do this would be appreciated as I haven't taken the weapon down that far before and no one I know has either.

You are referring to the Op Rod Spring Guide correct?

No the guide for the op rod itself, Op Rod Guide. This piece. Seems to be common on these Norincos and I've seen several different "fixes" like put in a bigger pin but I don't know about that I'de rather get a new one and go from there.

Well looks like USAA to the rescue! Didn't know it until I added another gun to the policy (10/22) but USAA offers repair service with no deductable, so I'm going to go ahead and utilize it and send her off. I really hate sending my gun off but I want it to be 100%. Going to send the Wife's Marlin off with it too. I love USAA.
