We've (Fulton Armory
) toyed with the idea of commissioning an E2 stock to complement our new USGI walnut stocks*, but an E2 that takes a standard buttplate. It's the stock hardware that's really, really hard to find. I've never found hardware separate from the stock. So, you can make the wood straightforwardly enough, but where does that get you? A fellow was reportedly making some repro hardware about ten years ago, but I was never able to find him.
Your best bet is to stay on top of Fred's. That's where I got a couple, including the one I still have. Of course, that was about ten years ago
