I realize this post is several years old, but it happened to come to my attention again and I want to make a point.
The new bolt that was given to me was defective, according to Springfield. I got a new one back, but it still jammed. One time it jammed so bad the extractor got caught up on a brass and yanked out from the bolt. I sent it back again, but haven't tried it out yet. I wonder if they chamber is too tight--maybe I should ask them to polish it... I don't think the service department has tried that. Either way, this rifle is a POS and it is a major hassle to keep sending it back.
