Commercial ammo

Hello

This question probably has been asked mutilple times already, but I didn't see it on the faq. So here it goes.
I've been trying find one of these adjustable gas plugs for my m1, but in Canada there hard to come by. Can I shoot real low gr rounds without possibly damaging this rifle, does anyone have experience shooting commerical rounds without any problems?

thanks
