was gifted a 1976 Marlin 336 today !

woohoo !

Dad gave me his still pristine 1976 Marlin 336 .30/30 this morning.

Photobucket is down for maintenance so pics will come later, but it's been a safe queen with maybe 10 rounds fired thru it in its' entire life.

the action still has the "not broken in" stiffness to it even after a good cleaning and oiling today.......the bore looks like it's never been fired.

time for a good scope, maybe a bipod, and some loading dies

I've got one right around that vintage, traded an old bow for it years ago. Easily one of the most accurate rifles I have out to 100 yards, I've taken several deer with it.

Right now I've got it unscoped, but have had it scoped over the years, either way it's a right handy brush gun.

What is a brush gun? To me that means a rifle that is light, short, and handy enough to carry in the brush without getting caught up on everything. Or in the way as you woddle though rough foliage. Anyhow, that rifle certainly fits the bill.

Did you shoot it yet?
