Being new to reloading, which primer tool would be recommended? I bought the RCBS kit and hate the primer tool that comes with the kit, very problematic. Every thing else in the kit seem to be top notch and works well.
If you are referring to the hand held primer that comes with the RCBS Supreme, I don't like it either. If my cases don't need trimming, I'll de-prime, size and prime on the press. I still hand prime a few but find the press works best for me. Most folks prefer the hand primer though, I always thought I was an oddball for not.
If you have the Supreme it should have come with the primer parts for the press
I have one of the RCBS Universal Hand Priming Tools and I really like it. I previously had the Lee and didn't like it. I like the fact that I can prime without shell holders. Just like my Co-Ax press. I have primed thousands without a problem.
Gator, you're not by any chance priming Lake City or other military brass are you? Like dh above said, the RCBS hand primer is fairly reliable unless you are priming military brass. They have a crimped primer and have to be swagged out before inserting new
I have to add that some new brass the primer goes in harder than older brass. Depends on the primer and the brass. Variances in manufacturing.
