Going through my Olde Dads 9mm brass I noticed he had marked a few boxes as "R-P Lg." and "R-P Sm." A quick glance proved that the brass is R-P but the boxes marked Lg certainly do not have large primer pockets.
Can anyone shed some light on what these markings might mean?

The jokes on me. I almost fell off my stool when I figured this out.
Not only is the font of the head stamps different sizes but the millimeter designations are upper and lower cased.
So, what was the difference?
R.P. is the "normal" Remington-Peters headstamp. Sometimes, the case walls are too thin to hold the bullet unless you use a undersize sizing die.
The difference is / was the BUNTER used to headstamp the cases. IOW they are from different production lots
