Hey ran across Berrys bullits a while back and picked up a box. They are 185 gr. 45ACP and 250 were $36.90. Haven't loaded any up yet and was wondering if anyone else has? I usually use the 185 gr. XTP's or something similar in my Para P12. I like a milder recoil with the small gun and the 185's are easier to control and more accurate. Anyone........?
:lol:Hey there sparky-I do some stuff with raineer 185s(jhp),and they are like berrys in that they are electroplated cu on lead.Shoot great and no FTFs,and are quite accurate!Have ya done any good on hogs lately?Must be time for a big Texas BBQ with the 4th coming up fast!
Hey cat, long time bro!!!! I just cleaned out the pit last week as a matter of fact:beer::beer::beer: I been loading the XTP's over 5 gr of titegroup and they do group tite. These Berrys bullits are different, they have a hollow place in the base that makes the 185 gr. longer than it would be other wise. More surface to make contact with the barrel to make more accurate. I picked them up down in Corpus at the Texas Gun Shop and they said that they'd had real good results with 'em. Just wondering if anyone else had tried them.
Only place I had to hunt this year didn't have many hogs. But we did get some good vinison.
The "Hollow Base" in the base of the bullet allows us to make a longer profile without adding weight. For example if we were to hollow base a 230gr .45 ACP bullet, it now weighs 185gr.. The longer profile gives more "Bearing Surface" on the bullet, which helps a pistol barrel stabilize the bullet. These bullets are very accurate, even at low to mid-range velocities.
That's pretty interesting rutro-those bullets are like the old blackpowder"minnie ball" with the hollow base,or the old 38cal wadcutters with the hollowbase!
i shoot them in my kimber.45 for plinking and am pretty impressed with them for a cheaper bullet. i loaded them with 8.3 grains of some old wap1 powder i had sitting around and shot golf balls at 20 yards. i bought the 185 gr at cabela's for $32
Golf balls at 20 yds. I'd say that's close enough for government work!!!!
Now you're realy getting me stirred up for some range time.
