Picked one up today and mounted up a 3-12X44 on her.

A few questions to some owners out there:

Did you use the weaver bases included, our just mount on the rails on the reciever?

What kind of ammo do these like to eat the most? I tried to get some Hornady, but the shop only had CCI, so I got on box of that to get started. (And at 11.99 I think it was a bit high..... but it was a local shop, o well.)


Once I get a bipod and get the barrel broken in, i'll bet she'll be a shooter.

I believe you'll like the Marlin. Midsouth has the best ammo price on Hornady at $7.86. The trigger is pretty heavy, you can tune the factory trigger but a Rifle Basix is better. Sub MOA is a real possibility with this rifle, I've found a 4x12 is minimum with my eyes. I'm waiting on FedX now to deliver a 6x24, 12 power cross hairs taking up about 1/2 MOA on the target.
Use the Weaver style bases and a Weaver style ring for scope mounting but watch the allignment. Mine was way off until I switched the bases around. Better use a bore sighter before going to the range, it will spot allingment problems so you can correct them at home.
