Best $85 ever spent on a gun

Just got my Mini 30 trigger group back from GunDoc, and I am amazed.

The original Ruger trigger, while not particularly heavy, was almost supernaturally bad, with grossly excessive travel and a practically demonic mixture of creep, crunch, and grittiness.

Just a few days in GunDoc's shop exorcised Ruger's evil trigger spirits . . . seriously, it breaks like a really good bolt-action trigger now. Classic glass-rod crispness. I didn't know it was even possible for a semi-auto trigger to be that nice.

Far and away the best $85 I've ever spent on a gun.

Did he install a trigger overtravel adjustment screw? Randy at Connecticut Precision Chambering,LLC. has done two Mini-14 trigger jobs for me. The latest on a S/S Ranch Target and they are great. The stock trigger on the Ranch Target SUCKED, buttloads of creep and overtravel and a trigger weight of 7 to 8 lbs!!! Funny Ruger would make a "target rifle" and just throw in a run of the mill Mini-14 trigger group. Randy reworks the trigger group and you wind up with a 3 lb. trigger pull PLUS he installs a trigger overtravel screw and an "anti-slack" screw giving the rifle a crisp single stage trigger pull. All of this for $50.00 plus $9.00 S/H either on the MINI-14 or MINI-30 rifles. All of this makes for a Mini-14 with a great trigger set-up that SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE BY RUGER IN THE FIRST PLACE, figuring the MSRP on the Ranch Target is $1098.00!! Didn't pay that much for mine going thru Davidsons Gallery of Guns but still almost double what I paid for my first plain Jane Mini-14! Randy also turns out some really tricked out 10/22s. He also works on several other Rugers like the 77 models plus the SKS and Browning High Standard models. You can check out his work and prices at Connecticut Precision Chambering. He not only turns out some really fine work, his prices are reasonable and he has a great turn around time on most jobs!!

Not something I see a need for, I like the trigger as it is now, don't want to fiddle with it.

At one time I installed overtravel screws, but over the years they presented more toruble than they were worth to my customers. I still offer them on request, but I don't feel they're a requirement using my method of trigger job.
