I haven't actually held a Deerfield carbine since I was a youngster learning how to hunt. I would think a little trigger work, maybe some bedding and a mild pressure pad under the barrel at the band so it stays tight. it's kind of a Ranch rifle meets 1022 so it needs a little from both bag of tricks.
Like i said, I haven't seen one in years, so I would need to inspect it and decide the best course of action. Where I grew up down South they were really popular deer rifles. I'm not sure why they fell out of favor.
