Bayonet lug.

I am just spitballing here...
would it be feasible to take one of those john masen bayonet lug/front sight combos, cut the muzzle break part off, and ream the inside of the rear section to fit the new tapered barrel design? the right picture would be the remaining piece and used to simulate the older gb sights.

I don't believe there's enough metal there to ream or bore the cut off to fit the tapered barrel. While there is plenty of material at the sight and lug, I think you'd run out of side material before making it work. Sorry to rain on your plan, it's a good idea for a retro look.

So I have a early 580 and one of those mosen sight/baonet lug, I really don't like it because of the length. I also read you have drilled holes in sight faces and put an bright epoxy, that would make one hell of a front sight.
Is it possible to make custom tritium sights? Can someone just purchase the inserts?

Tritium is a regulated gas (being radioactive) and the tubes for use in sights are rather fragile and not available from anywhere that I'm aware of.
