I quit reading National Geographics or watching their shows when they quit putting naked women in their pictures.

I haven't picked it up in a number of years, but it seems that way, and it's a shame since they do still have some of the best photography ever. I noticed they tried to focus on some very sensational guns. I'd like to watch the piece. Al Roker is going to have a little film called Armed in America. I watched him on the today show and he was talking about how the brave BATF are protecting us from criminals who sell guns, which even by the BATF directors own admission become illegal arbitrarily under laws which may require paperwork filing by a certain day, etc. I doubt the BATF is confiscating many weapons from Crips and Bloods, most likely they are people who had licenses or certifications they allowed to lapse since those people are easy to find and are law abiding enough to not open fire.

Of all those cable channels, I only even bother to flip through a handful. N.G. was one, but a while back they had a solid week of end-of-days global warming propanda. The handful was at that point was reduced by one (though I've occasionally watched something on it).

If they'd even attempted to explain why the ice ages happened, and ended, without cars, maybe I'd've maintained some respect for them.

Ever since they started using Alec Baldwin for a guest narrarator, I lost faith in NG.

I haven't seen the full show, but I watched the clip at the link you provided. I didn't see anything I could argue was wrong that was in the clip.

Most of the guns I've taken off of felons or underage recreational pharmacists have been legally bought at some point, either a straw man purchase or subsequently stolen. A couple were legally bought by the person who then subsequently became disallowed to own a firearm, like the guy who committed an armed robbery or the woman who pointed her gun to get access to a dryer in a public laundromat (yeah).

Doc, I was under the impression that strawman purchases were illegal. As a matter of fact the yellow form that is filled out before you can get a gun has as the first question is this gun being purchased for someone else. Maybe I'm just not reading what you wrote correctly. Frank

Straw man purchases are illegal, I worded that poorly. The person who buys the firearm has the legal right to do so and is not stopped from making the purchase, but the firearm is subsequently illegally transferred. Pretty common way for guns to get on the street.

It is true that legally purchased guns wind up in illegal hands. We should deal with the issue of turnstile justice for folks that commit burglary.

National Geographic could use the same logic, and say that rape victims encourage more rape.
