you're almost exactly a year late. exactly a year ago, I was living in boise, and I also had a mini-14 (I still do, over there). I may eventually come back some day. the only problem with that is that I'm in thailand right now, and I'm tenured here (kind of) for the next few years, and then I'm off to burma.

anyway, look around for some tips and tricks on your mini- upgrade it, it's a great gun but theres a lot of things that I don't really like about it (the gas system, mainly, because it- along with the thin barrel- keeps the gun from being as accurate as it should be), but it's a great starter gun. I don't regret buying mine at all, even if I regret some design decisions ruger made.

i know the mini isnt the perfect gun (which one is?) but its cool for what i wanted it for.. i just wanted a plinker with a bit more umph than a 10/22 that didnt gimme a heart attack when i went to buy ammo... i also like that its an autoloader... sucks that u moved i would have liked to have seen your mini... hopefully someone else will pop up with one around here and we can go shootin

well, anyway, if you want a place to shoot, go ALLL the way up eagle road (eagle). there's a perfect spot about 2-3 miles from where it turns into a dirt road- theres a small track that goes off to the left in a small valley (right in front of a big dirt mound and a bigger hill). just turn off there, go until you see the fence and all the brass, and start unloading with your trigger

also, the sand flats- if you go down state street to... I think it's highway 72? way out on the road that goes out to star, the last stop light before you get there- go up that road. follow it up when it bends left, it will come around again, and when you see the big cell-phone relay tower, go off on the dirt roads there. it's a great place to shoot, and nobody minds.
